Welcome to the
Pan African Infrastructure Development Fund
There is a strong correlation between a country’s access to infrastructure and its economic growth rate. Africa's geography, combined with its history, has resulted in a far greater need for infrastructure than most other continents, particularly transport, telecommunications, water and power.
It is in this spirit that the Pan African Infrastructure Development Fund (PAIDF) was formed. It is the largest African initiative of its kind established to drive infrastructural development in Africa and to foster sustainable economic growth for all her countries.
The PAIDF is a 15 year United States Dollar (USD) Fund launched to raise USD1 billion. Designed as a large-scale long-term fund, it allows Harith, the Fund Managers, time to build and develop each individual investment to optimise financial returns as well as obtain capital commitments from specific investors. The Fund seeks to invest in Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) across the African continent and is registered under the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Infrastructural Development
It is necessary for Africa to aggressively invest in infrastructure in order to achieve higher economic growth. Many African economies are too small to achieve the economies of scale enjoyed in larger and more developed economies. This makes transaction costs high and results in a lack of competitiveness. Sharing the production, management and operation of infrastructure facilities, development corridors and hubs can make a significant impact.
Africa is starting to embrace (PPPs), as one of the best ways of fostering infrastructure development. Participation in PAIDF gives investors access to large-scale PPP projects with potentially superior returns on risk capital.
